Sensitivity labels are used to classify and protect your data, without affecting your productivity.

Previously we would rely on the email security provider that they would encrypt the emails appropriately and it would be transparent to us, not knowing if the email was encrypted when sending a sensitive email.

Going forward, based on the content of the email we may apply labels automatically to your email, you will see if a label was applied.

We are incorporating a HIPAA library, a medical library, as well if a number within the body of the email looks like a credit card, social security, or passport number it will auto label as sensitive.

We now have the ability to see if the document will be auto-label as sensitive as well we will be able to manually assign encrypted status to an email. If you see that it's auto assigned incorrectly as sensitive you can now remove the label.

For example, you might want to decide that an email has sensitive information that you want to label as should be encrypted.

You can use sensitivity labels to protect content in Office apps across multiple devices and even multiple platforms, like Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android.

Sensitivity labels can be used with the desktop versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, AND they work with Office on the web.

To access the sensitivity option when using Outlook on the web, click on the 3 dots at the bottom of the page.

To access the sensitivity option from the Outlook for mobile app, when composing an email click on the 3 dots at the bottom of the email.
